Preparing for a Day at Mountain Creek? Here's What You Should Pack

esqui ligar 01

If you are gearing up for a day on the slopes at Mountain Creek, you'll need much more than your basic snowboard/ski gear. Take a trip to the ski shop and you'll get an idea as to the breadth of sundries available to skiers and snowboarders aside from skis, poles and snowboards. When in doubt, pack more than you think you need. Let's take a look at exactly what you should pack for your next trip to Mountain Creek.

Start With the Basics

Though it seems obvious to pack your ski pass, skis, poles, snowboard, boots, binding and goggles, you would be surprised as to how many people forget some of these necessities. Do not attempt to pack these critically important items in any old bag. Pick up a bag specifically made for snowboarding or skiing that has a reinforced bottom. This way, the bag won't sag when you lift it. Ideally, the bag will have wheels attached to at least one end so you can walk it through the lodge and other areas rather than carrying it. Select a bag that has distinct zippered compartments that allow you to organize your bindings, boots, goggles and other items.

Calories to Burn

Food and water are absolute must-haves for your day on the mountain. Pack some dry food with carbohydrates and protein to keep your energy level up. Opt for food that won't perish or squash/leak under pressure. Examples are nuts, seeds, dried fruit, granola bars and bagels. Also, bring along a large water bottle so you can stay hydrated while exposed to the dry winter air.

Sunscreen and Lip Balm

Though you won't be snowboarding or skiing on a sunny summer day, the sun can certainly impact your exposed face and skin. Prevent sunburn by packing and applying sunscreen and lip balm. Reapply both throughout the day to combat the sun's wrath.

Tissues

Pack a lot of tissues in your pockets and bag. It is guaranteed that your nose and eyes will run while out on the slopes, especially if it is a brutally cold and windy day.

A Whistle

Connect a whistle to a lanyard and you'll be able to catch your group's attention no matter how strong the wind is or how loud the surrounding crowd becomes. This way, you won't have to yell at the top of your lungs to notify your friends that you want to get together for a discussion.

First Aid Materials

Be sure to pack band aids, gauze pads, tweezers, antibiotic ointment and moleskin. This way, if you cut yourself, endure chafing or suffer another health-related issue, you'll have a few helpful items to tide you over until you can see a medical professional.

Every snowboard and skis will benefit from the application of wax. Fresh wax ramps up your speed and preserves your energy on the slopes.

Your Phone

Last but not least is your phone. This amazing piece of technology really does have the potential to save your life. Keep it on you at all times. It will come in handy if you suffer a nasty injury, lose track of your group's members or need to reach Mountain Creek personnel.
